The American Dream is really, in an idealic sense, the human dream. "...democracy, equality, freedom and opportunity..." These are, at the base level, what our country was founded on. The flags in the monolith show that, while not ideally/practically, all countries have citizens that believe in, and share, these ideals enough to leave their own homes to move to this country because of their belief in "The American Dream." Perfection isn't possible, but a good idea is better than a lot of familiar bad ideas. Burning Man has never been perfect, but it's based on a "good idea." The same could be said of America, and "The American Dream" fuels what makes BM possible.
